“Joyce Without Borders” is pleased to announce that, as a special sponsorship, the International James Joyce Foundation plans to award three scholarships to aid graduate students who plan to attend the North American James Joyce Symposium in Mexico City, June 12-16, 2019.
The deadline for applications for the scholarships is February 25, 2018. Applicants need not be members of the Foundation; any graduate student working on Joyce may apply. The award is for $1,000, although recipients traveling long distances may be eligible for increased funding.
Applicants (who must be graduate students when they apply, although they may have completed their work by the time of the award) should send a one-page summary of their M.A. thesis, Ph.D. dissertation, or book project that includes a specific description of the work that has already been done on Joyce as well as future plans, and a brief statement about how the work would be presented at the Symposium. Applicants should also send a c.v. and, if possible, request that one or two letters of recommendation be sent by the deadline. Although not required, these recommendations will strengthen any applications submitted for evaluation.
